Wonderful bright blue day, after a sharp frost it’s quite warm, especially in the sun. We went to see what was going on along the Centurion Way which follows the path of the old railway line from
Chichester to Lavant and beyond.

First of all it’s amazing how few cars are parked in Westgate and the surrounding roads. Normally they’re chock a block mid week where people who work in Chichester leave their cars free of charge; right now hardly anyone’s working and they’re deserted. These are certainly strange times.

The Centurion way has surprisingly little to see at the moment, naturally plenty of Celandines and a few daffodils still staying upright but little else in flower. What is noticeable is how the Lords & Ladies are growing all over the verges as here on a bank in front of an old bridge; they’re taking over in places.

After many years of debate the Whitehouse Farm development is underway, eventually there’ll be
1,600 houses along the Centurion Way. So far the access road has been started and major earthworks are in progress; one of the first features seems to be a lake that’s becoming established.
