Appologies to Miles Davis, this is not about his Milestones but mine.

I started to learn to play the Saxophone as a lockdown project in November 2020. I’ve been progressing through pieces in Nigel McGill’s Sax School on the web which are excellent. I think I’m making progress, at least on some days. Without doubt I’m having fun and enjoying making some sort of music for the first time in my life!

This is intended to be a personal record of any progress I might make and some favorite pieces that I’ve enjoyed playing. They’re as they were when I first learned to play them, warts and all.

This is Moon River, one of Lynda’s favorites, it’s a lovely melody. I’ve tried to do it justice but I found the timing was tricky and a few bad notes seemed to sneak in here and there.

March 2021

This piece is called Keeping it Lo-Fi, it’s from Sax school and was really enjoyable to play once I’d got going. It took quite a while to get to this far and I’m sure it will get better but it’s a great feeling to be playing along with a band for the first time!

February 2021

This is Danny Boy, not particularly difficult to play the notes but the tone and flow is work in progress. It’s the first video recording I’ve made, only using the ipad microphone so is not great quality but neither is the playing…

January 2021

This is the first ever recording made without any fancy kit. If you’re not sure, it’s Hawai Five O, which was quite challenging to play at the time.
