We've always enjoyed sailing...

… and over the past  four decades have been to most parts of the Channel on various yachts starting off with a Sadler 25, followed by a Storm33 and a Tradewind 35. Currently we have a Contessa 32 which we keep at Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport. Here, you can find out about the trips we’ve made, how we rebuilt her, and how to join us. If you’re interested in earlier logs go to the Timecapsule to find them.

Lively Levante is a classic cruiser racer that suits us well as she’s exhilarating to sail, good in bad weather but easy to manage; David often goes out single handed. Lynda likes her as she’s so seaworthy, it was this class that performed so well in the infamous 1979 Fastnet.

Contessa 32’s really are go anywhere boats, Pierre Andre Huglo recently took one around the world, non stop, single handed in the sister race to the Golden Globe. We don’t go that far but it’s good to know that she can stand up to whatever weather we get served up in the Channel, which can certainly be challenging at times.

David is one of the Skippers of the Victorian Oyster Boat “Terror”  which sails out of Emsworth Harbour. This is funded by passengers who only pay £20 for a two and a half hour sail in Chichester Habour – it’s a bargain! If you’d like to give it a try you’ll be helping to keep this fascinating piece of history afloat. Just go to http://oysterboatterror.org.uk to find out all about her and book a trip.

Here’s the log of some of the trips we’ve made on Lively Levante:

Here’s the story of how we rebuilt Lively Levante in 2012 and onwards:

Where to find Lively Levante

Lively Levante is kept at Berth C35 in Royal Clarence Marina, which is in Weevil Lane, Gosport

It’s is easy enough to find but if you join us there you must go into the right car park which is marked “F” on the plan opposite. This is the first on the right after you turn into Weevil Lane.

If you let us have your registration number beforehand we can book it with the marina in so you’re able to stay longer than the usual 4 hours

When you’ve parked your car make you way down to the bridge onto the pontoons where we’ll have to meet you an let you in.
