We’d hoped to be able to drop into the Southbourne Farm Shop for some fruit and salad but even at eight am there was a queue of people, all 2m apart, the length of the building waiting patiently to go in. We decided we could do without fresh fruit for now and hope it would be easier next week.

It was an hours or so after a particularly low tide so all the mud banks were visible showing how shallow this arm of Chichester harbour is, no wonder there were attempts to make it into farmland in the past.  The narrow channel leading into Thornham Marina is clearly visible, for shallow draft boats only!

With the water so far away there was not much to see apart from this group of Brent Geese all feeding happily and unaware that they should have left for Greenland now.

Quite a few other walkers were out but now things are very different, the penny has finally dropped that this Pandemic is serious. Whilst they’re all cheerful and offer greetings they stay the regulation two metres away, often going well into the crops to do so.
