So much for the good weather originally forecast, it may not be raining but there’s a stiff north easterly breeze that cuts right through you, especially along the mud berths at Ichenor which look rather bleak.
In the fields a tractor is ploughing, so much for “min till” Naturally there was a cloud of seagulls behind it but it also attracted many other birds. These three Herons seemed to find the newly ploughed land attractive, probably the worms exposed. We also saw what was probably a Sparrow Hawk although I couldn’t positively identify it as such; it certainly wasn’t a Buzzard, Kite or Kestrel. Further out were six Roe Deer, I dont think they were after worms but weren’t disturbed by the ploughing
Not many new flowers out here apart from beside the pond on the road where there were several bright clumps of Marsh Marigold challenging the Daffodils for colouring the landscape. The hedgerows were becoming brighter green here but more interesting were the Horse Chestnut trees. Some were still in bud but many had leaves that were unfurling with the occasional one almost out. Something to look forward to and a sign that summer is on it’s way.
